During a sewer line scope inspection, or plumbing scope inspection, a licensed inspector will use a flexible borescope camera to inspect and evaluate the condition of the drainage pipes within and around the structure.
The camera will be run through the home’s main drainpipe and maneuvered throughout the sewer lines to capture video footage and identify any buildup, clogs, cracks or deformations in the pipes that may otherwise remain concealed. The inspector will and will deliver a detailed report addressing any damage or health risks that come from your sewers and recommendations on how to address them.
A sewer scope inspection can take anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour, but it can depend on how large your home’s sewer system is, and what the issues are.
Performing a sewer scope inspection before purchasing a home can identify potentially costly repairs that may otherwise remain concealed during a visual inspection. It is recommended to routinely perform a sewer scope inspection as the house ages to identify any problems before they become catastrophic.
